The Hidden Hill

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data The Hidden Hill collects when you request a trip, why, and what rights you have over it. Notice-and-consent obligations under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 apply from the moment our booking form collects your details.

What we collect, and why

Name and phone number — required to submit a trip request, so a host and a member of our team can identify and reach you to confirm the booking.

Email address (optional) — used to send a copy of your booking confirmation, if you provide it.

Travel dates and group size — required to check availability with the host and calculate the price of your trip.

Any note you add — used only to understand and arrange the specific trip you're asking for.

Consent

We ask for your consent explicitly on the trip request form, before any data is submitted — the checkbox there is not pre-ticked. We do not collect personal data anywhere else on the site.

Who we share it with

Your name, phone number, dates and group size are shared with the host whose property you're requesting, and — where relevant to your trip — the driver or guide arranged for you. These are independent suppliers, not employees of The Hidden Hill; see our Terms of Service for how that relationship works. We do not sell or share your data with anyone outside of arranging your specific trip.

Retention

We keep booking data for 24 months from your last interaction with us, or longer if needed to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation. (This figure is a placeholder pending confirmation against our actual retention practice.)

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to let you access, correct, or erase your personal data, and to nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you're unable to. You can withdraw consent at any time — contact us and we'll stop processing your data for any purpose beyond what's legally required, and delete it where erasure applies.

Grievances

For any complaint about how your data is handled, see our Grievance Officer page.

These are structural requirements, not legal advice. Have an Indian lawyer review the drafts and a CA review the GST position before scaling.
